Brocton Central School

Many educational and cultural opportunities are present in Chautauqua County. The Brocton Central School District is approximately 8 miles from the campus of the State University College at Fredonia. Jamestown Community College and the Jamestown Business College are within close proximity.

The Brocton Central School District is geographically located in the northwest section of Chautauqua County, which is the western-most county in New York State. The District is organized on a PreK-8, 9-12 plan, all housed in one facility. The PreK-8 student population is approximately 575 students with a 9-12 student population of approximately 250. The District, comprised of the villages of Brocton and Portland is in the Town of Portland. Present professional personnel include the Superintendent, Secondary Principal, Elementary/Middle School Principal and business Official. There are 82 full-time faculty members, with a support staff of 59. The District is about to undertake a $21.5 million capital project that will include over 20 new classrooms, a new distance learning lab, gymnasium and bus facility. Renovation of the interior of the high school wing and updating the computer labs are also included.

The instructional program is well articulated and utilizes up-to-date teaching technigues. The Board and staff are actively involved in the New York Standards initiative. The District enjoys strong community support for its academic program and extra-curricular activities. The student newspaper has received numerous state and national awards.

The Board and Community work together to make the school community a place where people come together to share ideas and promote the welfare of all children.

Brocton is a component district of Erie 2 - Chautauqua-Cattaraugus BOCES. The BOCES organization provides the District with a variety of educational services as well as business and staff development assistance.
